Ridekicks ride safe!
We think that people are genuinely good, decent and trustworthy, and we run the website according to those values. We want you to have the best possible experience using Ridekicks, and sharing your car with the Ridekicks community. With that in mind, there are a few things you should do to make sure you're travelling as safely as possible, and that all parties have a positive experience.
Tips for a great experience!
- Complete your profile fully, people with full profiles share more rides!
- If you are sharing petrol costs, make sure you have discussed the money transaction in advance. You can use the Ridekicks payment process, which will earn you the ability to review and rate your driver or rider.
- Use our review process to rate your Ridekick as soon as the journey is over, and post a wall shout on the ride page.
- Vouch for your Ridekick, so that other users can see that they are trusted.
- Use the Ridekicks tagging system to group yourself with other people that like the same things as you - always useful when sharing a car with someone!
- Keep your car tidy... we know it's tough, but a shared car should be a clean car.
- Try to organise pick up points and keep in regular contact in advance. If you are sharing your car with someone that lives en-route, make sure you're clear about pick up points and arrival times.
- Read the comments on the ride profile.
- You can search by gender and age; use these functions to help you make the right choice of Ridekick.
Safety tips!
- Don't sell more seats than seatbelts in the car, that's just not fair, and illegal.
- Try to meet your Ridekick casually before the date of your ride.
- These days most people are on a social network. Try to use existing social networks to check out your Ridekick, if you can't find them on any of the existing networks, don't share a journey with them. Add them as a friend on Facebook, do they have over a 100 friends? Check them out. If they are genuine they won't mind you adding them in order to do some research!
- Google your Ridekick.
- Ask for a mobile and a home phone number, and a home address. Ask them the details of the car they are sharing with you. Write them down and keep them safe, or share them with a friend.
- Tell a friend where you going, who you are car sharing with, and what you are doing before you go.
- Where possible, car share with multiple Ridekicks at once. This also helps share the cost!
- If you experience any abuse, inappropriate behaviour, or have a bad Ridekick experience, report the member to us.
- If communications with your Ridekick are inconsistent or in anyway odd, don't share a journey with them.
